The first stage will consist of a number of swiss rounds based on the total number of entrants. Each round, players will race once against a single opponent with a similar win-loss record. After the swiss rounds, the best 8 records will advance to a best-of-3 single elimination bracket. In the very likely event that the 8th and 9th place records are the same, all players that share that record will compete in a group tie-break race to round out the bracket. Bracket seeding will be based on swiss record (but not swiss tiebreaks).
The bracket stage is still being discussed however the flags will show a marked increase in difficulty and become progressively more difficult as entrants approach the finals.

Match Procedure
The tournament will use challonge for both phases, and the tiebreaker race will be organized on discord. Players will need to schedule and complete one match each week in the swiss and two or three matches each week in the bracket stage. The tiebreaker race’s date and time will be announced soon after the swiss stage ends and player availability can be considered.
Races are facilitated and timed using SpeedRunsLive, and all participants need to have accounts both with SRL and on Twitch.
If both players in a race feel the seed is difficult beyond reason, they can agree to quit and have a rematch, but that match still needs to occur before the end of the scheduled round.
