2020 Summer Co-Op
Rules & Guidance
Schedule
We will attempt to use fluid scheduling - meaning if all teams are ready to move on to the next round, we will do our best to let them do so at their convenience rather than waiting for the next calendar week.

Tournament Rules
All races will use the FFrBot in the Final Fantasy One Randomizer Discord. FFrBot will determine the winner of each match based on the time recorded when the Team Captain enters their team's "?done". We recommend saving a local copy of your stream in case of technical difficulties. In the event of a dispute, we will use this to determine a winner.
All races will start from the overworld. During the setup for your race you will create your party and proceed to the overworld. Once there, you and your teammate need to confirm that the Lua icon (circle) at the top right of your screen is green - indicating a successful connection to the co-op server - before you ready up. DO NOT MOVE until both teams have readied up and the race countdown has completed.
BOTH members of a team must defeat Chaos in order to submit their "?done" command in the race room. Once one party member finishes the race, they may begin watching their partners stream to provide coaching - but they may NOT watch the live restream of the race.
NPC Guillotine has been enabled on our Beta flags. This is still broken in Beta and will allow you to bypass the LUTE and ROD blocks by talking to them. DO NOT ABUSE THIS. It will be considered cheating - and cheating will not be tolerated (see below). If you have the LUTE and/or ROD and accidentally talk to the block instead of using the appropriate item - go straight to your item screen to show that you have the item, and then pause your gameplay for 3 full seconds as a mini-penalty.
There are no forced parties or drafts - however, if both teams agree that they want to draft or play with a specific party of their choosing via any reasonable draft method (i.e. standard/random/dodgeball draft, etc.) they are free to do so. Teams are free to let the randomizer site choose the forced party by way of the "Party" tab, as this does not effect the overall seed - especially if all parties agree and do it as well. Black Belts ARE allowed if both teams agree to include them in the party draft, but will remain banned otherwise. If your team and your opponents agree to use Black Belts in your draft, you will need to update your race flags to include them in the party pool.
In the case of a tie (any race with a finish of exactly 3 seconds or less), runners will need to race again with a different seed at a time of their choosing. If this is not feasible/convenient, both teams may elect to have the tournament admins determine the winner via random.org.
No cheating allowed! Cheating includes but is not limited to: watching your competitors stream, watching the restream, watching your partner's stream (before finishing), getting any spoilers or help from any outside sources (including your own chat or Discord), using programs to analyze the ROM or RAM, etc. If you believe your chat cannot be trusted not to spoil or backseat, don’t watch your chat! (Or put your chat in emote-only mode for the duration of your race)
Don’t spoil anything yourself! Posting anything related to the seed in the designated Discord chat channel before the race is done ruins the experience for the other racer, even if you have already finished. This is a DQable offense.
In the case of unforeseen accidents or emergencies, tournament staff have the authority to issue fixes at their own discretion.
In cases of unsportsmanlike conduct, you will be strung up by your toenails and IRONGOLs will use you as target practice. Don’t be a jerk to anyone, don't bully your opponents or teammates about party drafts, don’t ruin anybody else’s fun, and above all else don’t start the Cardian Missile Crisis. Failure to follow these guidelines will likely lead to an immediate disqualification for you and your teammate - and may also lead to further administrative action in Discord.
In the case that a member of the tournament staff is in violation of these rules, they may not rule on their own behalf - and the arbiters will be brought in to handle the issue.
In the event that a team member needs to drop out of the tournament, the remaining team member is free to search for another teammate. They cannot select someone that is part of another active team, nor can they select someone from a team that's already been eliminated.
Should an entire team need to drop out of the tournament for any reason, that team's current opponent will be awarded with an automatic victory for that stage.
Sprite Hacks
On the subject of sprite hacks: If your patch is found to interfere with RNG or normal play, there will be consequences. You can test this yourself; record an input movie of you playing an entire race, and play it back without using your sprite hack. If it doesn’t sync up, you did something wrong. If you feel you need assistance with this, please let a tournament admin know.
If your sprite hack contains any changes not listed above - or you need further clarification, please consult a tournament admin so we can work with you directly to make a determination.
Failure to comply with these rules will result in immediate disqualification of your team from the tournament. There will be no appeal process.
