Rules & Guidance
Summer has just begun.
The wind blows softly,
the surf sparkles,
and the sand is hot underfoot.
The people wait, hoping
for good vacation getaways….
‘When the summer is hottest,
Onrac’s beaches will open….’
After a long journey, three
to five warriors arrive,
each holding a BEACH BALL.
Pack your bags, everyone! Because Onrac Summer Vacation is upon us!!
The Final Fantasy Randomizer community cordially invites you to our Summer 2019 event: the Onrac Summer Vacation League. Join us for five weeks of exciting FFR action, as we explore five radically different flagsets.
Of course, you're never in it alone. Play with a team of three (3) to five (5) players, and work together to conquer each of the elements. Will your brave band be the ones to light the Orbs or defeat Chaos itself?
About the League
Onrac Summer Vacation is a 5-week Team League, starting on July 15th.
Each week will feature four races of that week's flagset, with times chosen to accommodate as many players as possible (based on the information provided during signups). As such, the exact schedule will be announced in early July. Races will be at the same times each week.
There will be both individual and team competition during the League. Teams can be anywhere between 3 and 5 players, with lower scores dropped for larger team sizes. Joining a team is optional, though, and a solo player is welcome to enjoy the individual competition.
Scoring
Individual Scoring
Each race will be scored using a variation on Z-Score to measure performance relative to the average time on a seed, allowing comparison between different seeds. Players who do not race during a given week will not be considered while scoring. Forfeits and DNFs will be treated as not participating in a given race. The average time and standard deviation will be calculated by considering only the times of the middle 80% of all finishers (dropping the top and bottom 10%). These will be the values used to compute each participant's Z-Score.
Each week, a player's best Z-Score for the week (across all four races) will be used to rank that player against all other participants. The highest ranked player each week will earn an Opal Bracelet to proudly display on the leaderboard, with second place taking a Gold Bracelet, third and fourth a Silver, and fifth through eighth a Copper. Your individual score is reset each week, but your earned Bracelets persist, so a single racer could earn up to five!
Team Scoring
After determining the week's individual rankings, each rank is given a number of points equal to the total number of participants minus their rank's distance from first—for instance, if 64 players are signed up for the tournament, first place will be awarded 64 points, second will get 63 points, third gets 62 points, and so on. Any players who don't participate in any of the four races for a week will be awarded 0 points.
The Team Score of each team will be the sum of three members' final scores for the week, with which three determined by team size:
At the end of each week, the team who earned the most points that week will be awarded the Garland of that element. And, at the end of the League, the team with the highest total score summed over all five weeks will be awarded the coveted Emblem of Summer!
Rules
Please review the FFR Community Center Code of Conduct (publicly posted on our Discord server) for general behavior guidelines. All guidelines and community standards will apply in all race environments, including race SRL rooms.
All races will be held on SpeedRunsLive and therefore must be livestreamed to Twitch. We will use the official SRL timing to determine the placement of each match. All races will be subject to SRL rules. Please plan to arrive 15 minutes before the race is scheduled to participate, or earlier if you have been asked to be part of the official broadcast.
Cheating is not permitted during the tournament, and will be subject to penalties at the Tournament Organizers' discretion. Cheating includes, but is not limited to, communication with other players (even teammates) during a race, watching opponents' streams, use of tools to analyze the game before or during a race, and receiving any hints or spoilers from outside sources—including stream chats or Discord. Actions that assist a teammate or another racer, but not yourself, during a race may also be viewed as cheating.
We strongly insist that spoilers not be posted in the SRL room until after the seed is completed. While we understand the desire to talk about a seed, we ask that you refrain from mentioning anything that can be seen as a spoiler as this may affect the play of racers who have not yet finished. The #race-spoilers channel will be open on the Discord server for your post-game comments. Violations of this rule may, at the Tournament Organizers' discretion, be treated as cheating.
