Archivist's Note: Currently only the master schedule / standings and the format for the Grand Finals still exists for this event. If further documentation is ever found, we will update this page.
The following playoff will be used to determine the CROWNed champion of the inaugural season of the Final Fantasy Randomizer League!
Three (3) races will be run. Each race will have a unique flagset and goal. Chaos Points will be applied after each race:
The first place Grand Finalist in each race scores 0.0000 Chaos Points (a perfect score for that race). The SRL time recorded by the first place Grand Finalist becomes the “base time” for that race. Each subsequent finishing Grand Finalist in the race will “earn” Chaos Points equal to the percentage of time over and above the “base time” of the First Place player, to *4* decimal points.
After all three races are completed and Chaos Points applied, the Grand Finalist with the lowest cumulative Chaos Point score will be CROWNed Season One Champion. If there is still somehow a tie at the top after 3 races, the winning players will rejoice in their shared championship.
Goal: Kill 1 member of each enemy sprite type to .done. There are 55 sprite families in total. (The only sprites not in the pool are WarMECH and Chaos.)
Characteristics:
Players must defeat 1 each of every sprite type in the game (excluding WarMECH & Chaos.) A tracker has been developed for this purpose.
Players must kill the sprite type in an enemy encounter, and survive the battle encounter (e.g. see “enemies terminated,” victory dancing celebration, etc.) in order to receive credit for defeating any sprite or sprites in the encounter.
If the player party dies before the encounter is over, it is as if the encounter never happened - players do not get credit for killing any previously undefeated sprites in that encounter, even if they defeated them before the party wiped.
A monster that runs away is not a killed monster. A monster must be terminated to get credit for the kill.
Any particular enemy in the sprite family may be defeated to earn credit for that sprite family. For example:
IMPs or GrIMPs would qualify for the Imp Sprite.
Wolves, GrWolves, WrWolves & FrWolves would qualify for the Wolf Sprite.
Player options for tracking:
They can use the tracker themselves while racing.
If, due to an inability to run the present tracking software, or a desire to track sprites personally in a different way, a player might designate an “official tracker” to work with them for the race. This official tracker would conceivably be charged with watching the racer’s stream and tracking sprites defeated on behalf of the player. It is incumbent upon the racer/tracker team, however, to ensure that no errors or omissions are made in tracking.
(This idea can be discussed further between participants, commissioners & broadcasters, so that all are on board with how this would work for race purposes.)
The devs are developing a new “Chaos Rush” convenience for release soon:
At game start, all 4 orbs are lit and the gate to TOFR is open. Additionally, the Post-PHANTOM Mystic Key-locked doors have been disabled/removed.
Players may, at any time after knocking down Garland and receiving Lute from Princess Sara, challenge TOFR to defeat CHAOS and win the game, whenever they feel ready.
