Dani is one of the community admins who does a huge amount of work on the race team. Part of that is entering the command to generate a new seed for everyone to play. Even though the randomizer is random, “Dani seeds” have a reputation for having something especially nasty for the players, like packs of Arachnids that cast BLAZE.
Lich, because of its low HP, defense and magic defense, it usually gets rolled right over.
Kary. DoctorRosalia, doing comms on a match, misspoke and called Kary, Kelly, and the name stuck.
Kraken, in reference to Piston Honda (Punch Out!) or E. Honda (Street Fighter 2) both of whom have attacks where they throw many punches in a row.
During discussion of flags for Spring Tournament 2022, during a particularly tense moment on disagreement, someone dropped their keyboard on the floor and typed “h2*++”. The ensuing confusion and amusement defused the situation.
Or as Darkmoon put it: ‘There was tension in the room and then h2*++ arrived and the whole room was just like, "naw, man, we cool. h2star++, bruh"’
Burt Reynoldz:
If anyone is wondering about the ocean canoe; I made some custom sprites for a race on a ROM labeled "Clean FF1 ROM" and it turned out that they filename was a lie and it had been modified to allow the canoe to go on the ocean... for some reason. I only discovered this half way through the race when I accidentally stepped off of the land into an ocean faring canoe. We are all disappointed that this has not been added to the randomizer.
demzeronfrzerog:
I was on comms and thought I was going crazy because nobody else mentioned it
During another race, a combination of randomizer bugs resulted in every encounter being runnable. BurtReynoldz discovered that you could run from the fiend refights, and ultimately, Chaos. Burt then discovered that if you run from Chaos, Garland disappears, making the game unwinnable.
A R.Ankylo match involving floor/entrance shuffle, monster in a box, weaponizer, and a forced 4 thief party. Progression was in a chest guarded by a sentry with 500+ HP. The thief only had access to one weapon, which was complete garbage – the infamous long nunchucks -3, a randomly-generated weapon with a -3 malus that did about 6 damage. As a result, it took racers over an hour (in some cases several hours) of grinding and battle attempts to overcome the Sentry.
Later, Will Bloodworth streamed the same seed with a solo thief (of course) and spent over 2 hours making attempts over multiple sessions before finally defeating the sentry and being able to proceed with the rest of the seed.
Black belts are overpowered and should be nerfed. Black belts are the best class, I only ever play black belts. Black belts are boring, I hate black belts. Black belts are too slow. Black belts should be banned. Black belts should be forced.

Kill Chaos via papercut which will inevitably take significant time, or re-dive ToFR, which will inevitably take significant time
or, more specifically, making the safe play knowing it will take significant time, or risking the unknown, which will take significant time

During a race with absolutely every map edit turned on (as well as E/F/T Shuffle), and the critical moment of the race LuffyDV found the floater, however, forgot the existence of the Ryukahn Desert Dock, instead choosing to embark on a Quixotic quest for the Canoe. Unbeknownst to Luffy, the Canoe was Canoe/Floater locked, causing him to double check and re-open every chest he had opened previously. For 30 minutes. Only once he sailed by the dock randomly and his soul left his body to join the ranks of the immortal did he realize his mistake. The dock has now been affectionately re-named - Luffy's dock

In the 2023 Fall League Finals race, Solario was the second player on the Leftovers to get going (in the rally style format of the League finals). They knew where Tiamat lived, and killing Tiamat would let the third player on their team go. But over the course of ten minutes, and 15 BRAK casts, Tia refused to die. It was only on the 16th BRAK that the dragon went down, tying the record for most BRAK casts in any broadcast.
