Week 1: Melee Week
101: Fighter Class It's Fighter Week! This flagset is designed to show you how to use the Fighter effectively as a melee carry. As such, you will be forbidden to take a Thief or Black Belt. Otherwise, it’s mostly a beginner preset (with auto-retarget turned on). Classes: Fighter is your only melee. No Thief or Black Belt in sight. Incentive Locations: Ice, Ordeals, Marsh, Titan’s, Earth, Sea, Sky, Coneria Castle Locked, Cardia Islands, and all our NPC friends. Incentive Gear: Masamune, XCaliber, RUSE Stick, and Ribbon. Classes: You get a Ninja, and their your only melee. No Fighter or Black Belt this time. Masa-What?: Katana, Power Gauntlet, Power Staff, Ribbon are in the pool. Masa has been deleted. World Edits: Extended Open Progression is on so the early game is open. But those poor Mermaid can't be visited without the key. Week 2: Learning Strategy
102: Black Belt Class This flagset is designed to show you how to use the Black Belt effectively as a melee carry. As such, you will be forbidden to take a Fighter or Thief. This week has Short ToFR and boss HP cranked up (200-400%). In a normal flagset, seeing Boss HP cranked up is usually a sign you’ll want to consider the Black Belt as a melee carry. Incentive locations: Ice, Ordeals, Marsh, Earth, Corneria Castle Locked, and all our NPC friends. Incentive gear: RUSE Stick. Note: Tail is not Incentivized. All Loose Shards It's time to learn chest locations, and when key items can be lurking, in a flagset with so many items we don't know where to put all of them. Shard Hunt: 24 Shards, hidden in boxes all around the world. Those boxes will be marked, but also trapped with local formations, so be careful. Open Party Comp: Pick any party you want, with two bonuses and no maluses. Random AoE Caster Item: Start off with a bit of reusable magic in your pocket, just to help you get a leg up on the world. Week 3: New Ways to Play
103: Floaterless This week is Floaterless. You’ll notice several map edits that make floaterless a possibility. For instance, there are docks to allow you access to Onrac, Cardia, and Desert. In addition to the usual river dock at Ordeals, there is also a river dock to let you get to Lefein. There is also a “mountain pass” to allow access to Gaia. Only Bahamut’s island has a dock, so we have also collected all of the Cardia Island treasures in Bahamut’s cave. Incentive locations: Ice, Ordeals, Volcano, Sea, Sky, Corneria Castle Locked, Cardia, and all our NPC friends. Incentive gear: Masamune, Opal Bracelet, Ribbon Seeds: Exhibition Seed: 87344C33 Race Seed: 0579081E Async Seed: DFFE00BB	203: Free Enterprise A fast, quick flagset where you start with the airship right outside Coneria and have to plan your route through the Four Fiends and on to Chaos. Freebies: Free Airship, Free Ship, Free Canoe, Free Bridge & Canal, Free Tail, Free Random AoE Caster Item No Encounters: Move freely because no monsters are going to come for you. Just tile fights (B-sides) and bosses. Harder sub-bosses: Buffed Pirates and Fight Bahamut are both on. Build Your Party: Recruits are gated by NPCs and fiends. Week 4: Mixed Up Expectations
104: Who Needs Mages All weapons have magic (so using the Select button to see weapon stats will be helpful), and you get an AoE Caster item to start. Magic Shops are closed, because who needs mages? Mermaid Prison is on, so unlocked does not include Mermaids. Incentive Locations: Ice (vanilla), Ordeals (vanilla), Marsh (vanilla), Earth (Random Poat-Rod), Volcano (random shallow, i.e. Armory Floor), Sea (random unlocked), Sky (Random Sky), Corneria Castle Locked, and all our NPC friends. Everything is a surprise! Mixed Up Towns: Town Shuffle is on, so you'll need to find the towns between their swapped locations. Might make some turn-ins easier, some harder. Shuffled Fiends: The Fiends have swapped locations, but retained their stats, so be careful when you dive a dungeon because you may get someone you weren't ready for. 2 Dud Locations: 23 Incentive Locations are on, but only 21 Incentive Items are active, so keep track because you may not get anything in the dungeons you explore. Week 5: True Tests of Will
105: SpeedGaming Live 2024 This week is a blast from the recent past, going back to SGL and Fall League Week 3. We’re partial to these flags, though they were certainly a re-learning curve. All Loose: Chaotic placement tends to put your items very early in the logic, but bear in mind that every key item will be a marked trapped chest. No Random Encounters: Yup. None of ‘em. Orb-based XP Progression: 50% per orb. Ponder them. Entrance Shuffle: Towns are fine, but all the other entrances are mixed up. You may wish to take notes. Tavern Recruitment: The clinics are now taverns. You may replace your characters at any point during the seed. Each tavern will have a different class. Clamped Alternate Bosses: Boss stats are 100-200%, fiends are pulled from the FF1 alt pool, and the final boss is Double Dragons. Game Mode: Deep Dungeon -- Progressive Tilesets, Fiend Orbs, Tail before Bahamut, Save on Game Over Explore Around: EXP Chests are on. Starting Equipment: Random AoE Item to help in your dive down. New Consumable Items: ETHR, DRY, and XETH to replenish your magic. Week 6: The Road to Graduation
106: Winter Tournament 2025 Qualifiers Our week 106 lesson is the Winter Tournament qualifier flags from 2025. These are a blast, but there's a lot going on in them, so even with this summary, I encourage you to read the flags and/or check out Sunday's Platy Party race for more info. Shard Hunt: You must get 24 shards to enter ToFR (along with the Lute and Key). This means you may not have to do every dungeon. No Marsh or Ice: Marsh and Ice have no incentive items in them. Hooray! Trapped Boxes: Shards and incentive items come with a local formation of enemies to defeat before you get the item. The one exception to this is the gear incentives (Excal, Power Gauntlet, Defense), which will not have encounters due to a quirk of the randomizer. You will still get the fanfare. Vanilla Touch Attacks: Enemies have their vanilla touch attacks. Undead will paralyze, Cockatrices will petrify, and Sorcerers will deathtouch. There's a bunch of other ones too, but those are the ones to be most afraid of. Forced Party: You have a forced melee, a second forced slot, a forced none, and an optional mage. It's usually right to take the optional mage. Tavern Recruitment: The clinics are now taverns. You may replace a none with a new party member at any point during the seed. Each tavern will have a different class. Vanilla Bosses: Boss stats are 120-160%, boss health is 150%, but the boss scripts are vanilla. You'll want to keep a reference up in ToFR, because some of the patterns are very important. Seeds: Exhibition Seed: B554EFF1 Race Seed: 68BAF6C9 Async Seed: EE86FBEF	206: Entrance and Floor Shuffle with Forced Recruits We're mixing up the whole world and making you think hard about your party in this challenging flagset. Mixed Up Dungeons: Entrance shuffle, with shuffled floors, dead ends included, and dungeon floors randomly flipped horizontally. Make sure to take notes. Short ToFR: At least Chaos's shrine is tiny this tim around. Legendary Weapon & Armor Shops: Two legendary shops will be hidden in dungeons around the world. Promoted Forced Recruits: Four recruits will be blocking the crystals of the four fiends. You'll have to take them to light the orbs. Incentive Locations: Ice Cave, Ordeals, Marsh, Earth, Sea, Sky, and Coneria Locked. Incentive Gear: Masamune, Ribbon.
